Recently, I had the pleasure of presenting at VMUG UserCon 2025 Belgium with a session that clearly hit home for many:

From Cloud FinOps to Datacenter FinOps

With VMware’s recent pricing changes, many organizations are feeling the pressure—and it’s time to rethink how we manage costs on-prem. While FinOps started in the cloud, the FinOps Foundation has now officially added Datacenter as a recognized Scope.

In this session, we explored:

• Gaining visibility into datacenter spend (without needing another expensive tool)

• Optimizing licenses (yes, those ones)

• Aligning IT, Finance and Leadership around cost-aware decision-making

• And most importantly: making your datacenter more efficient—without migrating to cloud
